Push Presents – Week 24

As a business in the gift market we cover a fair few gift giving occasions from baby shower, maternity leave gift, new baby to the other occasions such as Mother’s Day. In todays modern world there are always new ideas out there and one relatively new gift giving occasion is push presents. Thats right savvy new mums now expect a little trinket to celebrate the hard work of producing a baby. Yes hubby that was a hint!

I think a gift that is also a keepsake of this beautiful occasion is the perfect gift. I’ve long had my eye on a Baby Ring by Susan Astaire. Since I first looked at her range she has added to it and I now have my eye on The Baby Circle. I’ll be expecting a ‘Peas in a Pod’ style if I have any more. Now there’s a great idea for you Susan!

Maternity Bras – Week 23

Not one to be blessed with assets that double over night in pregnancy and one that thinks most maternity bras leave a lot to be desired style wise I have pushed on through as far as I can before I’ve had to give in and investigate the options.

I found in my last two pregnancies that it was like hitting a wall. Suddenly I woke up one day and thought these bras are murder, I need to get some maternity bras. Well it is about to happen again and recognising the signs I resigned myself to a wee look in JoJo Maman Bebe last week. I tried on the Continue reading

The Scan – Week 21

Week 20 is an exciting landmark in any pregnancy.

1. You are halfway!
2. You will have your fetal anomaly scan.
3. Is it Pink or Blue?

In my case the 20 week mark was reached with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. Finally I am feeling quite good, the morning sickness (or evening sickness in my case) is mostly gone but occasionally lingering. However another 20 weeks through summer is a daunting prospect.

The scan was also approached with last minute trepidation Continue reading

Baby MAYnia

May looks like it is going to be a busy one for new arrivals, if the first few days are anything to go by.

A few fun facts for those who are expecting May babies:

- Your birthstone is the emerald which symbolises love and fortune. It is considered a deflector of negative energy and an attractor of abundance, harmony, and love.
- Your flower is the Lily of the Valley which symbolises sweetness, innocence and purity.
- May babies are the heaviest, on average 200g heavier than babies born in other months.
- May takes its name from that of the Greek goddess Maia, a sweet name choice if you are expecting a baby girl this month and haven’t yet chosen a name.
- Your zodiac sign is either Taurus (April 20-May 20) or Gemini (May 21-June 20). Taurus is symbolized with the “Bull” and is the second sign of the Zodiac.

Characteristics of those born under Taurus include; determination, practicality, patience, sensuality, reliability, ambitious, and competence.

Taureans are also known to have less flattering characteristics like being lazy, inflexible, jealous, stubborn, and being greedy.

Gemini is symbolized with the “Twins” and is the third sign of the Zodiac.

Characteristics of those born under Gemini include; witty, full of life, adaptable, brave, inquisitive, and clever.

Geminis are also known to have less flattering characteristics like being nervous, cunning, superficial, malicious, and a lack of consistency.

One famous Taurean is Audrey Hepburn (May 4) and a famous Gemini is Kylie Minogue (May 28).

From our new baby gift orders this month we think that one clever celebrity out there has had a special May arrival and managed to keep quiet. We will have to keep watching the glossies and see if our hunch is correct.
